I am pleased to announce that I am setting up shop as a Developmental Editor.
I love books. I love to write books. I love to help other people write better books.
In the current academic environment, the pressure to publish is ever greater, and the support that publishers offer is ever leaner. I aim to help bridge that gap.
I have over 20 years of experience providing guidance to writers. As the author of five books (published by four different presses), a single-essay journal, and myriad articles published in top-tier journals, I know well the challenges of getting a manuscript finished and through the publishing process.
If you have a nonfiction manuscript that is close to completion; that is nearly ready to submit for review or publication, or that is stuck and in need of a thorough, critical read, I am happy to do so.
As a Developmental Editor, I will:
— Provide encouraging, constructive comments in response to: word choice; sentence structure; paragraph arrangement and flow; chapter content and progression, and overall arc of the narrative.
— Provide feedback on style and argument, an assessment of how well your message comes across, and suggestions on how to make an even stronger case.
— Present these findings in the form of line by line recommendations; notes on each chapter or section, as well as general notes on the overall project.
— Host an hour-long conversation by phone to discuss my responses.
— Do all the above in a timely manner at reasonable rates.
If you or someone you know would benefit from this service, please let me know! I’d be happy to help. Please contact me at: firstname.lastname@example.org
